Throughout the previous century, the perfect butt has shifted with each decade. Bustle, an online women’s publication, looked into the best buttock shapes and sizes for each decade, from slightly curvy in the 1930s to tight and wavy in the 1970s to huge and round now. When the Kardashian-Jenner reality-TV family’s curvy backsides became viral in the 2010s, many other celebrities followed suit. Plump booties quickly became fashionable.
Many women have had their bottoms shaped and lifted with implants, fillers, and Brazilian butt lifts. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 21,823 Brazilian butt lifts are expected to be performed in 2020.
So, how can a Brazilian butt-lift help you get the ideal tush? Long Island plastic surgeon Dr. Anthony Buglino prepared this helpful explanation to assist you to determine if the treatment, recuperation, and other aspects are good for you.
What Is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
A Brazilian buttock lift, also known as SSBA (Safe Subcutaneous Buttock Augmentation), is a surgery that comprises liposuction and augmentation.
Liposuction is used to remove extra fat from places including the belly, hips, lower back, and thighs. For extrication, a surgeon inserts a tiny tube called a cannula that is attached to a vacuum. The removed fat is then prepared for injection into regions of the buttocks to improve their shape and size. Because a percentage of the transplanted fat may not take to the relocation in some situations, surgeons may inject more than is necessary to guarantee your expectations and goals are met. Regrafting may be required for the future if the bulk of the cells do not survive.
Despite being referred to as a “lift,” the treatment does not include the same techniques as arm or thigh lifts. Excess sagging or loose skin surrounding the region is also not addressed by the procedure. General anaesthesia, IV sedation, or a mix of local and mild PO (by mouth) sedation, commonly known as awake liposuction, can be used to finish the procedure. The type of anaesthetic used depends on your comfort level and, ultimately, what the surgeon feels is the safest and most feasible option for each patient.
What Does a Brazilian Butt Lift Do?
Liposuction and augmentation are used in a Brazilian buttock lift, commonly known as buttock augmentation with fat grafting. Procedure for the lower body:
- Improves shape and volume of the buttocks
- Fat in the abdomen, hips, lower back, and thighs is reduced.
- Flat Buttocks Gain Fullness & Perkiness
- Enhances the curves of your body
- Improves body proportions in general
Should you get one?
Patients who have lost their natural curves due to ageing or weight loss and desire a more youthful form are good candidates for Brazilian butt lifts. They should also have sufficient fat pockets for grafting. A healthy weight, a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and food, and being a nonsmoker free of recent infections or previous surgical operations are all possible requirements for the surgery. It’s critical to speak with a board-certified plastic surgeon about your alternatives before making a final decision.
What’s the Difference Between a Brazilian Butt Lift & Butt Implants?
A Brazilian buttock lift involves the insertion of silicone implants into your tush to create a natural-looking bottom. The latter has been marketed as the less natural-looking and more intrusive choice. It also has a higher risk of infection and capsular contracture, which happens when the implant is squeezed and hardened by internal tissue and scarring. Because the implant might potentially get misplaced, the procedure may need to be repeated. Those with a low body fat percentage, on the other hand, may not have enough fat to transfer, and butt implants may be the only method to get the desired results.
How Does Recovery Feel?
Follow your plastic surgeon’s recommendations after surgery. For two weeks, you won’t be able to sit or lie on your buttocks, so you’ll have to sleep on your stomach or side or stand. Although your surgeon may discuss and perhaps prescribe pain medicine, the discomfort will be mild. After one week, you can resume light everyday activities, but you should not exercise or move heavy things. Following this time, your surgeon will assess if you’ve recovered sufficiently to sit on your buttocks using a doughnut seat or cushions under your thighs. You won’t be able to sit normally for around eight weeks, but you’ll be able to return to work in 10 to 14 days.
It may take up to six months for the wound to heal completely and for the final effects to appear. At the three-month mark, one may be reasonably definite about fat retention capacity.
How long is it going to last?
A Brazilian butt lift should last a lifetime, but if the transfer doesn’t take, your surgeon may need to repeat the treatment after you’ve healed to get the results you want. Because fat does not have its own blood supply, the location of the implantation is critical for the highest chance of survival.
The success of this procedure might also be affected by weight fluctuations. Your buttocks can grow if you gain weight, and shrink if you lose weight. Because the fat cells injected to your buttocks might expand and shrink, it’s ideal to keep your weight consistent to maintain results.
