Meaning of BTS

In a May 2016 interview with Affinity, J-Hope revealed in a May 2016 interview with Affinity that they chose the name “Bangtan Sonyeondan” to “filter out preconceptions, critiques, and expectations that aim at adolescents like bullets.” Initially, the group communicated this theme through their emblem, which was a bulletproof vest, as well as songs like “Attack on Bangtan” and “We Are Bulletproof Pt. 2.” This is why, to match their motif, BTS dubbed their fandom “ARMY.”
