BTS
This boy band of seven has captivated audiences worldwide and is unquestionably the biggest name in K-pop. With 16 million monthly listeners on Spotify, 16 million albums sold (Map of Soul is the best-selling album in Korean history), sell-out stadium performances across the US and UK, two No. 1 albums in the US, two No. 1 albums in Korea, and the best-selling debut in the 2010s, BTS have done it all. BTS was the only non-English-speaking artist to enter the IFPI Global Artist Chart in 2018, and they were the second best-selling artist of the year (behind Drake). The vocalists Jimin, V, Jin, and Jungkook are joined by rappers Suga, RM, and J-hope.
BTS released “Dynamite” in August 2020; it was their first song entirely in English. It debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 singles list and held that position for three full weeks. BTS became the first all-South Korean act to top the Hot 100 thanks to its debut No. 1 hit in the US. “Dynamite” was nominated for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” at the Grammys, making them the first K-pop artists to do so.

When their song Ddu-Du Ddu-Du was played more than a billion times on the platform in November 2019, they became the first K-pop group to ever join YouTube’s “billion views club.” Psy and his hit song Gangnam Style are the only other Korean performers to join the group. Blackpink has wrapped up their In Your Area tour, where they played to a combined audience of almost 205,000 people. However, nothing has been verified as of yet. There are also rumors that the group will work with Lady Gaga on her upcoming album.
