In a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1996, Tupac Shakur was shot and killed at the age of only 25. The legendary rapper known for his hit Ghetto Gospel passed away six days after being shot four times with a handgun. Who killed him, and what transpired in the course of the shooting? Who killed Tupac?
The shooting’s mystery has perplexed fans and investigators for years. The main suspect in the death of Tupac Shakur was Orlando Anderson. He belonged to the Southside Compton Crips, a group based in Los Angeles, California, and was referred to as “Baby Lane.” Anderson denied killing Tupac before being fatally shot in a separate gang-related shooting in May 1998 at the age of 23. Although Duane Davis, also known as “Keefe D,” has acknowledged being an accessory to the shooting, he has never been accused of killing Tupac.
What took place in the shooting of Tupac?
On the night of the shooting, Tupac and his group had attended a viewing of boxer Mike Tyson at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. As they were leaving the match, the rapper and his crew attacked Orlando Anderson, including Suge Knight, who was operating the car that Tupac was fatally shot in. Anderson would subsequently be named as a suspect in Tupac’s slaying. Tupac then hailed a ride with Knight, the former president of Death Row Records, about three hours later.
At Koval Lane and East Flamingo Road, the car came to a stop at a red light. A white, late-model Cadillac with four doors approached Knight’s right side at about 11:15 p.m. (PDT). The shooter, who was seated in the back of the vehicle, then rolled down the window and fired several shots at Shakur’s BMW using a.40 S&W Glock 22. A car pulled alongside the BMW When Tupac and Knight arrived, they opened fire. Four bullets were fired at Shakur, striking him in the arm, thigh, and two times in the chest. Shakur was struck in the lung by one of the bullets, and Knight was struck in the head by fragmentation. Knight attempted to drive Tupac away while suffering from gunshot wounds and a flat tyre; they eventually ended up on Harmon Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard. They were then pulled over by the cops who then rang paramedics – taking them to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada. Despite being placed in a medically induced coma, Shakur passed away from his wounds six days later.
Was Notorious B.I.G. a person of interest in Tupac’s slaying?
Rapper Notorious B.I.G., whose real name is Christopher Wallace, was held accountable for Tupac’s murder. He declined having a role in the shooting. Fans were still speculating, but there have been a number of theories and outburst from the general public.
Later, his family produced invoices as an alibi to show that Notorious was in New York at the time of Tupac’s murder recording a song. Wayne Barrow, Wallace’s manager, and the rapper Lil’ Cease vehemently denied Wallace’s involvement in the crime. When the shooting took place on September 7, they allegedly joined him in the studio. Wallace’s involvement in the shooting has never been proven by any evidence. On March 9, 1997, Wallace shot himself to death in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. He was 24 years old.
